The short version: Morning Ritual is designed with privacy at its core. All your data stays on your device. We don't collect, store, or share your personal information. Period.
1. Introduction
Welcome to Morning Ritual ("the App"), developed by Raj Vardhman ("we," "us," or "our"). We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use Morning Ritual.
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Data Stored Locally on Your Device
Morning Ritual stores the following data exclusively on your device using local storage (UserDefaults). This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party:
- Routine preferences: Your selected goal, routine type, and duration settings
- Mood entries: Pre-routine and post-routine mood selections
- Progress data: Streak counts, completed sessions, points, and tier progression
- App settings: Sound preferences, voice guidance toggles, appearance mode (light/dark/system), notification preferences
- Session history: Dates and details of completed routines
2.2 Data We Do NOT Collect
We want to be crystal clear about what we do not collect:
- We do not collect your name, email, or any personal identifiers
- We do not require account creation or login
- We do not collect location data
- We do not collect health or fitness data beyond mood entries stored locally
- We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs
- We do not use cookies or web tracking technologies
- We do not collect device identifiers for advertising
- We do not have a server or backend — there is nowhere for your data to be sent
2.3 Subscription & Payment Data
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information, credit card numbers, or billing details. All subscription management is handled by Apple's in-app purchase system. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles payment data.
2.4 Notifications
If you enable wake-up or streak reminder notifications, this permission is handled locally by iOS. We do not use push notification servers or collect any notification-related data.
3. How We Use Information
Since all data is stored locally on your device, it is used solely to:
- Display your routine preferences and progress within the App
- Track your streaks and achievement tiers
- Show mood trends over time
- Deliver local notifications you've configured
- Remember your app settings and preferences
4. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not share any data with third parties. Because we don't collect data, there is nothing to share, sell, or disclose. The App contains:
- No third-party analytics (no Firebase, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude)
- No advertising SDKs or ad networks
- No social media SDKs
- No crash reporting services that collect personal data
5. Data Storage & Security
All data is stored locally on your device using iOS's native UserDefaults system. This data is:
- Protected by your device's built-in security (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID)
- Encrypted at rest by iOS when your device is locked
- Included in your iCloud backup if you have iCloud Backup enabled (managed by Apple)
- Deleted when you uninstall the App
6. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data persists on your device for as long as the App is installed. To delete all data:
- Delete the App: Uninstalling Morning Ritual removes all locally stored data
- Reset within App: You can reset your progress from the Settings screen
Since we don't store data on any server, there is no additional data to request deletion of.
7. Children's Privacy
Morning Ritual is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since the App does not collect any personal information from any user, no special provisions for children's data are necessary.
8. International Users
Since all data remains on your device, no data is transferred across borders. The App functions identically regardless of your location.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including under GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations), you may have rights regarding your personal data. Since Morning Ritual does not collect or process personal data on any server:
- Right to access: All your data is visible within the App on your device
- Right to deletion: Uninstall the App or use the in-app reset feature
- Right to portability: Your data exists in your device's local storage and iCloud backups
- Right to opt-out of data sales: We never sell data — we don't even collect it
10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected. Morning Ritual collects no personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act. We do not sell personal information.
11. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area: Morning Ritual processes no personal data on external servers. All data processing occurs locally on your device under your control. No data controller or processor relationship exists because no data is transmitted to us.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and may notify you through the App. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
